Education and Health Promotion
SIDS and Kids Safe Sleeping Health Promotion program has been developed in close consultation with SIDS researchers and paediatric experts in Australia and overseas. The program provides parents, caregivers and health professionals with the latest information about the ways to reduce the risk of SIDS and sleep accidents. Resources include Safe Sleeping brochures, poster, door hanger, Frequently Asked Question sheet, booklet for health professionals and a community service announcement. These resources are distributed free of charge to the public and distributed to hospitals, antenatal classes, maternal and child health nurses, doctors.
From 1991 to 2004 the SIDS and Kids Safe Sleeping program has saved the lives of 4,000 Australian babies with over 100 of those from the ACT region.

Education of emergency response groups such as police, ambulance, hospital and fire in the management of sudden infant death.

Community education to the general public, schools and interested groups.

Education and supervision of vounteer peer supporters.

Professional development seminars for health professionals, midwives and medical practitioners.
