COMMUNITY EDUCATION
SIDS and Kids NSW provides a range of community educational services to hospital and community-based health professionals and the general community, informing them of :
- The role and activities of SIDS and Kids NSW
- Supporting and caring for a familiy who has experienced the death of their baby or young child
- The SIDS and Kids Safe Sleeping campaign.
SIDS and Kids NSW conducts educational activities in many settings to a wide range of groups:
- Hospital staff- Midwives, Maternity Units, Accident and Emergency Units, medical staff, social workers.
- Community-based health and allied professionals - Community Midwives, Child and Family Health Nurses, General Practitioners, Funeral Directors, Multicultural and Indigenous Health Services, Department of Community Services, Family Day Care Workers, Childcare Centres.
- School, colleges, universities and TAFE- high school students , medical, nursing and welfare students .
- Emergency service workers - Ambulance and Police
- Community groups- playgroups, parents groups.
Educational services are implemented throughout NSW by the staff of the SIDS and Kids NSW Health Promotion Team and by accredited volunteer Community Educators. For information about how to become an accredited volunteer Communty Educator for SIDS and Kids NSW, please click here.
SIDS and Kids NSW works collaboratively with relevant organisations and agencies to deliver our educational serivces, including Kidsafe, the Heart Foundation, Cancer Council, the Asthma Foundation of NSW, Multicultural and Indigenous Health Services and NSW Health .
