SIDS and Kids Safe Sleeping Brochure

This brochure explains how to reduce the risk of SIDS and sleep your baby safely.

Scientific Booklet

This booklet contains scientific literature to support the recommendations of the Forum to review the risk factors for SIDS, convened by the National SIDS Council of Australia, Melbourne, in March 1997.  A second Scientific Forum to review the risk factors, held in May 2000, concluded that the evidence in this booklet was current.

SIDS and Kids Safe Sleeping Video

This 12 minute video has been produced for parents, and those who care for infants and young children.  It demonstrates how to reduce the risk of SIDS and infant sleeping accidents.  It also provides answers to commonly asked questions about how to sleep infants and young children safely.

This A3 size poster (shown in part here) demonstrates the correct way to make up a cot safely, and lists the three major criteria for reducing the risk of SIDS.  It is ideal for display in maternity wards, child health centres and child care centres.

SIDS and Kids Cot Card

These door hangers are designed to hang on the door handle, cot or change table, reminding everyone who cares for the baby of the three main criteria for safe sleeping.

This brochure was developed by the Bibbulung Gnarneep team in collaboration with the National SIDS Council of Australia.  It explains the ways to reduce the risk of SIDS, and has been specifically designed for indigenous communities.

Wrapping Babies Brochure

This brochure was produced in collaboration by SIDS and Kids South Australia and the Women's and Children's Hospital in Adelaide.  It provides guidelines for safe wrapping of infants in the first 12 months.

This brochure outlines the Grief Support services offered by SIDS and Kids WA

This is a handbook for bereaved parents, their families and friends following miscarriage.  The information in this booklet is written from the collective experiences of many women and their families who have experienced miscarriage.

This is a booklet by and for parents whose baby is stillborn or dies soon after birth.  Written from the collective experiences of parents whose babies have been stillborn or died in the newborn period, it shows that while every parent's experience of their loss is different, the impact of grief is similarly great.

This is a booklet by and for parents whose baby or young child has died suddenly and unexpectedly.  It provides guidance, support and wisdom for those who have lost a child, and can be a source of advice, consolation, and a gentle guide to the future.

The funeral is the last physical act of caring for your child.  It is a time, amid profound grief, when you can acknowledge your child and the meaning your child's life holds for you and your family.  This booklet outlines and explains the different choices available at this difficult time.

Death is a difficult subject, and sometimes it is hard to know what to do or say to someone whose young child has died.  This book gives practical advice on ways in which you can offer your understanding and support.

This booklet is by and for grandparents whose young grandchild has died suddenly and unexpectedly.  It acknowledges that grandparents experience deep sadness when a grandchild dies.

This booklet is for parents whose baby or young child has died, and who are considering having another child.  It aims to reassure parents that no matter how strange their thoughts and feelings may seem at this time, there is absolutely no right or wrong decision, only what is right for them.
